Phaleria clerodendron
Phaleria clerodendron
This is a Miss Tree favorite and a rare plant in cultivation. Phaleria clerodendron is a stunning, small tree from tropical north queensland that also grows very well in the subtropics. It has large glossy dark green leaves and spectacular white, strongly scented, tubular flowers that occur on the trunk. The scent of masses of flowers permeates through the garden. It then produces sparing quantities of large red fruit which are poisonous to humans. Best in a sheltered part shade position.
