Golden Penda
Xanthostemon chrysanthus
A spectacular golden flowering rainforest tree, Golden Penda grows up to 10 to 12 metres tall in the wild, but is smaller in cultivation. The trusses of flowers bloom in summer and autumn, and attract nectar feeding wildlife. Its foliage is attractive when the tree is not in flower, with large, glossy leaves and bronze coloured new growth. It is best in a sunny spot but will also tolerate semi shade, and can grow in a wide range of soils -loamy, sandy loam, clay loam. It can be pruned to shrub size if desired.
